Last chance to see multi award-winning Legally Blonde The Musical

After almost 1000 West End manicures, perms and make-overs, Legally Blonde The Musical will have its final performance at the Savoy Theatre on 7 April 2012. The production now in its third year has transformed the Savoy Theatre into a pink haven for Elle and her sorority girlfriends. Legally Blonde The Musical opened in December 2009 to rave reviews and the show went on to win seven theatre awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical.
With audience numbers of over three quarters of a million to date, Legally Blonde The Musical premiered with Sheridan Smith playing the role of college sweetheart Elle Woods. Smith went on to win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Carley Stenson who took over the role of Elle in July 2011 will continue until its final performance, with Stephen Ashfield as Emmett, Ben Freeman as Warner. They are joined by Peter Davison who continues as Professor Callahan, a role he has played since the show’s premiere.

Legally Blonde have teamed up with Breast Cancer Campaign ahead of this month's wear it pink day.

A donation of £2 a ticket for shows in the week of 24 to 28 October (October half-term) will be made to Breast Cancer Campaign. The Savoy Theatre will also be holding bucket collections during and after the shows.
Throughout
the week, we want you to wear it pink by coming to see Legally Blonde in

Ben Freeman and Stephen Ashfield join the cast to play Warner and Emmett!

From 10 October 2011 Stephen Ashfield (Emmett) and Ben Freeman (Warner), will be joining Carley Stenson (Elle Woods), Natalie Casey (Paulette) and Peter Davison (Professor Callahan) in the Olivier Award winning show Legally Blonde The Musical, which is currently booking until 27 October 2012 at the Savoy Theatre.
Stephen Ashfield’s theatre credits include Bob Gaudio in the original London cast of Jersey Boys, Boy George in Taboo in the West End and on tour in the UK, Nick in Fame at the Aldwych Theatre, the Beast in Beauty and the Beast for Theatre Clwyd, Adam in Imagine This at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth and John in Tomorrow Morning at the New End Theatre. His screen credits include Tim Burton’s film of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd.
Ben Freeman’s theatre credits include Norman in Dreamboats and Petticoats at the Savoy Theatre and on tour in the UK, George in Same Time, Next Year at the Jersey Arts Centre, Friedrich in The Sound of Music on tour in the UK and the roles of the Prince and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone. His television credits include Scott Windsor in Emmerdale as well as roles in Grange Hill and Smith and Jones.

Carley Stenson to play Elle from 11 July!

From 11 July 2011 Carley Stenson will play college sweetheart Elle Woods in the Olivier award-winning Legally Blonde The Musical. Stenson, who is currently playing Margot in the West End production, steps up to play the leading role joining Lee Mead
who joins the cast later this month (20 June) to play Emmett Forrest
and Natalie Casey as ditzy beautician Paulette Buonofonté. Peter Davison continues in the role of Professor Callahan as well as Nicola Brazil as Serena and Siobhan Dillon as Vivienne.
Carley Stenson (Elle Woods) made her West End stage debut as Margot in Legally Blonde The Musical.
She is best known on television as Steph Cunningham in C4’s Hollyoaks, a
role she has played for over ten years. She won ITV’s Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes when she performed as Faith Hill. On stage her regional theatre credits include Sandy in Grease, Dulcie in The Boyfriend and Nancy in Oliver.
NATALIE CASEY TO BE PAULETTE!

Omigod you guys! Natalie Casey will join the West End cast of the Olivier award-winning Legally Blonde from 26 April to play ditzy beautician Paulette Buonofonté.

LEE MEAD TO BE EMMETT FORREST!

From mid-June Lee Mead will join the west end cast of the Olivier award-wining Legally Blonde The Musical to play Emmett Forrest. He joins Susan McFadden as Elle Woods, Carley Stenson as Margot, Nicola Brazil as Serena, Siobhan Dillon as Vivienne and Peter Davison as Professor Callahan. Alex Gaumond, who has played the role of Emmett since the UK premiere of the show, has now extended his run until mid-June when Mead will take over.
Lee Mead played the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre from 2007 to early 2009, after winning BBC One’s Any Dream Will Do. In 2007 he released his debut solo album, Lee Mead, followed in 2009 by Nothing Else Matters. Most recently he starred as Fiyero in the West End production of Wicked. His previous theatre credits include Lord Arthur Savile in Lord Arthur Savile's Crime on tour in the UK; The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre; Miss Saigon on tour in the UK and Tommy.
Best New Musical - Legally Blonde The Musical Celebrates at the 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards

Tonight, 13 March 2011, as a further 180,000 tickets are released for sale, Legally Blonde The Musical celebrates at the 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards winning Best New Musical, with Sheridan Smith collecting the Best Actress in a Musical Award for her critically acclaimed performance as Elle Woods and Jill Halfpenny picking up the award for and Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
The award-winning Legally Blonde The Musical, currently starring Susan McFadden, Denise Van Outen, Alex Gaumond, Siobhan Dillon, Carley Stenson, Simon Thomas and Peter Davison, is now booking until 31 March 2012 at the Savoy Theatre, London.
The musical also recently celebrated winning the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical (Sheridan Smith), Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Jill Halfpenny) and Best Choreographer (Jerry Mitchell).

Susan McFadden to take over as Elle Woods!

From 10 January 2011 Susan McFadden will play the leading role of Elle Woods in the West End hit Legally Blonde the Musical. McFadden, an original member of the Legally Blonde cast who as well as playing the role Serena - one of Elle’s sorority sisters - has also been wowing audiences as the show’s alternate Elle since October.
Susan McFadden played Sandy in Grease at the PiccadillyTheatre after winning the opportunity beating thousands of hopefuls on ITV1’s reality show Grease is the Word. Her other theatre credits include the role of Milly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on tour in the UK, the title roles in Cinderella at the Theatre Royal Wakefield and the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin and Annie at the Olympia Theatre Dublin. Her other Dublin Theatre credits include Jack and the Beanstalk, Singin’ in the Rain and Dance of Desire. She has been seen on television in Relative Strangers and Bachelors Walk, both on RTE.

Richard Fleeshman joins the cast of Legally Blonde from June 16th to play love-rat, Warner Huntington III. Heart throb Richard is best known for his role in Coronation Street as Craig Harris, and for his knock out, winning performances on ITV’s Stars in their Eyes Celebrity Special, and ITV’s Soapstar Superstar, taking both titles in style. Richard accompanied Elton John on his Summer Stadium and Red Piano Tours as well as releasing his own album – Neon.
We caught up with Richard and he had this message for us:

London’s newest hit show, Legally Blonde The Musical, has now released 350,000 new tickets for sale, taking booking at the Savoy Theatre up to 20 February 2011.
The cast of the critically-acclaimed musical, which officially opened last week in London’s West End, is led by Sheridan Smith as college sweetheart Elle Woods. She is joined by Duncan James as ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III, Jill Halfpenny as beautician Paulette, Peter Davison as Harvard’s Professor Callahan and Alex Gaumond as Elle’s new love interest Emmett.

Star-studded opening night at the Savoy on 14th January

OMIGOD! Everyone who was anyone was at the Savoy last night to celebrate the opening night of the show. Celebs in attendance included a huge range of faces from the stage and screen, including Duncan James' bandmates from Blue, Graham Norton, David Tennant, Sir Bob Geldoff, Kristin Scott Thomas, Denise Van Outen, Tara Palmer Tompkinson, Caprice, Twiggy and X Factor finalists Lucie Jones, Rachel Adadeji and Stacey Solomon. The special guests headed to the Waldorf Hotel after the show and partied into the small hours after being joined by the cast and crew of the show. All guests left the event with a Legally Blonde goody bag containing a nail file, BIC razors, Montagne Jeunesse face-pack and a Benefit Talk-to-the-Tan pack.
Legally Blonde Gala performance in aid of Heart FM's new charity Have a Heart.

Heart DJ Toby Anstis and Heart Showbiz Editor Jo Parkerson host this special charity performance in aid of Have a Heart.
Have a Heart is a new charity created for Heart which awards grants to projects or charities that make a real difference in the Heart of our communities.
In 2009/10 Heart is supporting projects that make a difference to the lives of children, building a better future for those who are vulnerable, face adversity, live with an illness or are deprived of the childhood that every young person deserves. The charity will work with local grants panels and volunteers to ensure donations raised locally are spent locally.
On Friday 15th January, Legally Blonde stages a special Gala performance of the show, hosted by Toby Anstis and Jo Parkerson. Legally Blonde will be donating £25,000 from this performance to Have a Heart.
The 1st ever West End Ticket Lottery - From Sunday 6 December

Every day a lucky few people will win the chance to buy up to 20 top tickets for just £10 during the previews of Legally Blonde.
2 hours before each performance you can collect a free lottery ticket at the Savoy box office. 30 minutes later tickets will be drawn entitling the holders (who have to be present) to buy up to 2 tickets for just £10 (usually £40-£55).
So for the chance to win be at the Savoy box office for 5.30pm for 7.30pm performances, 12.30pm for 2.30pm Thursday and Saturday matinees and 1pm for Sunday matinees
£10 for preview performances 6 December 2009 - 13 January 2010 and £25 for performances from 14 January 2010.
The lottery is available only in-person at the Savoy box office and tickets must be paid for in cash only.
Legally Blonde supports Children In Need!

See the cast perform on the BBC1 live show at 10.45pm on Friday 20 November. For every full price ticket sold between 8am Friday 20 November and Midnight on Sunday 22 November, Legally Blonde will donate £5 to Children in Need.

Sheridan Smith is to lead the cast as college sweetheart Elle Woods in Jerry Mitchell’s Legally Blonde The Musical which will preview in the West End from this December. Tickets for Legally Blonde The Musical, which has its press night at the Savoy Theatre on 12 January 2010, go on sale to the public today. Sheridan is joined by Duncan James who will play heartbreaker Warner and Alex Gaumond as Emmett, Elle’s love interest. Previews are from 5 December 2009 and the show is currently booking until 23 May 2010. The Broadway production of Legally Blonde The Musical concluded its run in October 2008 and is currently packing out houses across America in its hugely successful two year tour with international dates in Japan and Canada soon to be announced. In 2001 Amanda Brown’s novel Legally Blonde was made into a film starring Reese Witherspoon, produced by MGM and directed by Robert Luketic.
Sheridan Smith is best known for many award-winning television roles which include eight series of Two Pints of Lager & A Packet of Crisps, two series of Grown Ups which was written specifically for her, two series of Love Soup and four episodes of Benidorm. She played Emma in the multi award-winning The Royle Family and played a guest lead in Gavin and Stacey. Her other television credits include Blood Strangers, Doctors, Fat Friends and The Comic Strip Presents Sex Actually as well as Lark Rise to Candleford and Jonathan Creek. Sheridan made her West End debut as Tallulah in the National Youth Music Theatre production of Bugsy Malone. Since then she has appeared in Into the Woods at the Donmar Warehouse, Ancient Lights for Hampstead Theatre, The People are Friendly for the Royal Court and Tinderbox at The Bush Theatre. Sheridan made her Shakespearian debut at Regents Park Open Air Theatre in 2006 playing Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew. She also played the lead role of Audrey in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Little Shop of Horrors which later transferred to the West End. As well as recording many radio plays, Sheridan played Lucie Miller, the Doctor’s Assistant, in the radio version of Dr Who.
